3M HQ-115 is an electrolyte additive used in commercial lithium ion batteries for these reasons.

HQ-115 improves cycle life in Graphite/LiCoO₂ and Graphite/MNC cells at high temperature. The addition of HQ-115 also reduces cell impedance and gassing at the negative electrode. Utilising HQ-115 can prevent shorting under high temperature conditions with a single layer PE separator.
